January Workouts
I spent the first two weeks of the month recovering from the killer 10K swim. Then it was off to London for a week, then India for a week. No swimming either of those weeks, although I did get in some decent work on the stationary bike in the hotel gym.

Workout Notes 2011 Week 5
First week back from India. I had expected to be very tired. However the workouts went nicely. Friday, Sat, and Sunday it was up to the high 70s. Friday afternoon I could not resist getting on the bike. Saturday Logan had soccer at Five Star in the Colony, which made it easy to hook up with Ron for a long bike ride from Frisco. That was cool! Sunday Logan had an early soccer game; I got a nice 12 miler in after that. My legs were feeling dead from the long bike on Sat.

Workout Notes 2011 Week 4
Tough week. I ran the warmup for circuits on Monday outside and that was it. Could not breath. So pretty much the rest of the India work was inside on the mill or stationary bike. There was a big green field on the side of the hotel where I did the circuits on Monday and Thursday. Saturday I got my four mile run in after 32 hours of travel! Yuh! Sunday I felt great doing my 12 mile loop.

Also - the trusty Polar 610 blew up after circuits on Thursday. I found some goo in there when I took it apart. I thought that the battery leaked but it might have been the diaphragm for the beeper.

Workout Notes 2011 Week 3
I took the Red-Eye flight from Dallas on Sunday and then went straight into the office for work. Monday evening I did circuits in the Horse Guard Parade. This will be the sight of Olympic Beach Volleyball in 2012. That worked well so I did circuits there on Thursday as well. I was really tired for my run on Tuesday and Friday. Wednesday and Saturday were excellent. After Saturdays run, I flew from London to Mumbai. Then Sunday Morning, Mumbai to Pune.

Workout Notes 2011 Week 2
Monday circuits felt really strong! Given how sore I was last week that was a surprise. Thursday, not quite as crisp, as it was a long work day without a break! Tuesday I thought my arms were going to fall off for the first 1500 or so due to the 100x100 session last week. However, after the arms went numb, I was good to go. Friday swim was much better. Still sore at first. Saturday TZ and I headed out on the bike. Rode Sat instead of Sun since it was supposed to Sunday Morning. Which it in fact did. Like a mutha! I went out and did my 12 mile loop - 37 degrees. Steady Rain. My clothes, not including shoes, weighed 8 pounds at the end of the run!

Next: London.

2010 Year In Review
2010 was a tough year in a lot of ways. During the previous two years, I had racked up 10 Overall Masters Titles, five each in 08 and 09. This year, I was unable to successfully defend any of those titles. It was not that I was slower either, just not fast enough! I did manage to win two new masters titles at the end of the year, at DRC and at the Jogr. So that's not such a bad thing!

Also - I finished the year ranked 18th in the SMW Triathlon Rankings for my age group. I also finished 2009 ranked 18th!

Beyond all of that, I ran a bunch of track meets; did the STH 100 Mile Bike; and did the STH 10,000 Meter Swim.

One of the most amazing things from 2010, is that I had no zero days in the log book; I managed to get a workout every day of the year. That was a first. And that included working though the very badly sprained ankle on March 1. Several other firsts: two PRs for Swim Distance - 5K and 10K. And the most swim mileage in a month and in a year. No international travel this year helped all of that.

December Workouts
This was a much better December than last year. I continued to focus on my last two road races - The Penguin Run and The JogR Egg NogR. I managed to break 18 for the Jogr and win overall masters. Those felt like big accomplishments! I also continued the trend of ignoring the bike in favor of focus on running. After the Jogr I had a bunch of time off of work. That combined with the usual week or two of easy recovery, left me hooking up with Ron for a lot more swimming than I had ever done before. This pinnacled with a 10,000 Meter swim on New Years Eve. That was nuts!

Workout Notes 2011 Week 1
Strange week. I only worked Tuesday and Wednesday. I started circuits this week as well. I was really sore from circuits on Tuesday and I had known Ron was not going to swim on Wednesday, I would have swum on Tuesday instead. Of course the highlight of the week was the 10,000 Meter Swim on Friday, News Years Eve. That evening Fran made me stay out until 1am, and I had a few beers and other adult beverages. Saturday I really felt like shit both from the hangover and also from the swim. I thought I would go for an easy four mile run, but once I stepped outside I thought screw it and I headed out for the eight mile loop. And then after a few more miles I thought what the heck, and I headed out for the 12 mile loop.

Sunday I went out for a nice ride down to WRL. I got hit by an out of control cyclist. And he trashed my wheel and dented my frame. NOT HAPPY. But I got a nice set of new wheels, a tune up - Brett told me that my chain was good for 2000 miles. I must have at least 10K Miles on that old chain. Whoops!
