Workout Notes 2012 Week 23

Gotta Pee?
Spent this week trying to manage the PF in the right foot. Ran the 800 on Tuesday and completely collapsed on the second lap. It was not the foot; it was lack of fitness. Sheesh. RVs daughters asked me to run the 4x400 with them so at least I ran that 400 faster (barely) than either leg of the 800. Thursday I saw Ron and had a massage with his new guy who looks like Rulon Gardner. He worked the heck out of my heel, which hopefully will help it. Also Ron mentioned that I might look at getting a plasma injection. I think I will do that.

May Workouts

The Dallas Marathon Board of Directors have decided that "white rock" will no longer be part of the name of the race. Boo.
May Started out very well with a third place finish in the historic McKinney Triathlon. That race featured my highest swim placement (2); my highest bike Placement (6) and it was the first triathlon where no one passed me in the race! Then my focus turned toward track. Unfortunately the PF in my left foot flared up badly. I took two weeks off of running - not sure how long its been since I did that. The foot improved a little. I did run the 400 meters during the last week of May, but all that did was aggravate the PF even more. It does not look like I will be doing much more on the track this summer.

Workout Notes 2012 Week 22

Got a signed copy of Chrissie's book this week!
Memorial Day Week left time for a big bike on Monday, solo through Sunnyvale. Then I managed to do the 400 at the all comers track meet in 65. My legs were trashed though from the work over the weekend. And the meet was running way ahead of schedule which meant an abbreviated warmup. Wednesday morning it was storming like a mutha and when I got to the pool it was closed due to lightning. By the time I got in I had to hustle so I went with the 1000, 1000, 5x100. I took me a while to get warmed up on Thursday, but I was running pretty well by the end of that workout. Friday's swim was killer, with most of the 10x100s touch and go. Saturday was disappointing as I had a great warmup and strides and I was ready to do 2x(600-200). But after my last stride I felt a flair up in my left Achilles. I put on my flats and tried a stride with no luck. Sunday, I woke up late and my head was killing me. Actually I had the same head ache on Saturday as well when I woke up. I had a hard time getting it in gear, but I finally got out the door and had a spectacular ride through Sunnyvale. When I got to Rowlette, I took a right on 66 and headed to Rockwall and came back on the 205 through Wiley. The last ten miles were a sufferfest, but I had my best 50mile and 100K splits according to Endomondo!!

Got a signed copy of Chrissie's book this week!
Memorial Day Week left time for a big bike on Monday, solo through Sunnyvale. Then I managed to do the 400 at the all comers track meet in 65. My legs were trashed though from the work over the weekend. And the meet was running way ahead of schedule which meant an abbreviated warmup. Wednesday morning it was storming like a mutha and when I got to the pool it was closed due to lightning. By the time I got in I had to hustle so I went with the 1000, 1000, 5x100. I took me a while to get warmed up on Thursday, but I was running pretty well by the end of that workout. Friday's swim was killer, with most of the 10x100s touch and go. Saturday was disappointing as I had a great warmup and strides and I was ready to do 2x(600-200). But after my last stride I felt a flair up in my left Achilles. I put on my flats and tried a stride with no luck. Sunday, I woke up late and my head was killing me. Actually I had the same head ache on Saturday as well when I woke up. I had a hard time getting it in gear, but I finally got out the door and had a spectacular ride through Sunnyvale. When I got to Rowlette, I took a right on 66 and headed to Rockwall and came back on the 205 through Wiley. The last ten miles were a sufferfest, but I had my best 50mile and 100K splits according to Endomondo!!

Saturday June 02 - SMU Warmup, Strides, Cooldown (Hamstring) - 4.8 Miles Run
Sunday June 03 - Sunnyvale Loop plus Rockwall to Wiley! (Ave 18.2, CAD 78, Ride Time 4:10, ALT 800, Temp 83) 75.9 Miles Bike
